Kari Traa x Campfire Ranch
In January 2025, I joined a group of women for an unforgettable three-day winter retreat with Kari Traa to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic Rose Print. We gathered at Campfire Ranch on Red Mountain Pass, a beautiful alpine oasis tucked deep in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, where cozy modern huts met snow-covered solitude.
Outfitted head-to-toe in Kari Traa’s vibrant, high-performance gear, we had professional guides teach us how to use an avalanche transceiver, snow probe, and snow shovel (thankfully we didn’t need to use them 🙃). I learned how to use touring bindings, how to use climbing skins, and just how much backcountry skiing differs from alpine.
It was more than just a content trip — it was a celebration of female camaraderie, resilience, and the magic that happens when surrounded by women who teach, encourage, and inspire one another.
Nordic Adventures at Tennessee Pass, Hosted by The Timberline
On a quiet stretch of Highway 24, just beyond the bustle of Leadville, lies one of Colorado’s most peaceful winter playgrounds: Tennessee Pass. During a snowy weekend in 2024, we were graciously hosted by The Timberline, a locally loved spot where hearty meals and mountain hospitality meet beneath the pines.
From there, we set out to explore the Nordic trails of Tennessee Pass, gliding through silent forests, photographing golden light filtering through snow-laced trees, and capturing the stillness that only winter brings.
